Elegance is an attitude

Longines has been headquartered in Saint-Imier, Switzerland since 1832 and was founded by August Agassiz. His nephew, Ernest Francillon, took over Longines in 1852 and is the man behind many of the brand’s pioneering decisions. For example, he transformed his uncle’s workshop into the first Longines factory in 1867 and, in that same year, created the first logo featuring our winged hourglass—designed to combat watch counterfeiting.

Throughout its history, Longines’ watchmaking expertise has reflected a deep commitment to tradition, elegance, and performance. With many years of experience as a timekeeper for world sports championships and as a partner of international federations, Longines—renowned for the elegance of its timepieces—has been part of the Swatch Group Ltd since 1983, the world’s leading manufacturer of horological products. The brand, known for its winged hourglass logo, now has stores in over 150 countries.

Thanks to its century-old watchmaking tradition, Longines has pioneered numerous technical innovations and continues to show an unwavering drive for innovation. Its constant pursuit of excellence leads it to equip its automatic watches with cutting-edge movements, notably featuring a silicon balance spring. This material is not only lightweight and corrosion-resistant, but also unaffected by typical temperature changes and magnetic fields. Its unique properties enhance the precision and longevity of the watch, allowing Longines to offer a 5-year warranty on these models.

“Elegance is an attitude”
The slogan that has accompanied LONGINES since 1999 faithfully expresses the brand’s philosophy and represents one of its core values. It also guides the selection of each of its Ambassadors: Kate Winslet, Jennifer Lawrence, Henry Cavill, and Barbara Palvin, among others.
